All,
Barring new developments that call for a renewed appeal for your prayers, this will be the the last post on this blog. Eden is home, up to 7 lbs., 1 oz., and is past her original due date. She is playing the role of newborn at home to the hilt, playing havoc with her parents' sleeping habits and preferences. As is the case apparently with many preemies, Eden will need to be on an iron supplement for some time, so we would appreciate your prayers that her iron levels would become normal and healthy.
But we appear to be past those terrible life-threatening crises, not to be presumptuous. Eden hasn't "spelled" since coming home, is continuing to gain weight, and has had good reports from her various exams and from her in-home nurse that visits once a week (for a couple more weeks to come).
Rebekah is progressing as she continues to heal from her pulmonary embolism, and her most recent blood pressure readings were very good.
How we thank you for your prayers! All of us in the family are longtime Christians, but I don't think we've ever experienced being the focus of the widespread prayers of so many in the body of Christ like we have since early June. The traffic on this site, for example, has been overwhelming and humbling. And this site hasn't been the only way that fellow believers have kept up with developments to show love for us and inform prayers to the Lord. Who knows what would have come had it not been for so many appearances and appeals before the throne of grace? From now on, every moment of joy, every bit of happiness and every experience of love this child will bring into her family will be a continuing answer to your prayers. We cannot thank you enough for your appeals to the Lord on Eden's and our behalf.
For all of us,
Chris Bunn
(Rebekah's dad and one of Eden's grandfathers)

Eden just had a very good eye exam, with the doc saying that her eyes were developed just as would be expected with a newborn. Her original due date was 8/20.
After today, Rebekah will be on her own since we will be heading back to Tennessee tomorrow. That won't be easy, with Eden not knowing yet that nighttime is for sleeping.
Thanks for your prayers.

Eden is home! Here are a couple of pics from yesterday. We celebrated Rebekah's birthday with dinner on the patio.
Eden's most recent weight measurement was 6 lbs. 7 oz. She is sleeping like a baby - waking up every 2 hours crying. She is getting a maximum dosage of an iron supplement in her formula - the iron level gave them some second thoughts at the NICU, but they decided to release her anyway. So there are some issues, but what a long way things have come in the past couple of months.
Thank you so much for your prayers.

Eden had another apnea spell this morning, and another just this evening. So, she will not be released until Tuesday at the earliest, and there is talk that because of these persistent spells her release might be delayed for several weeks. Rebekah is anxious to get her baby home, but we sure don't want these spells to happen at home where there isn't the hardware to monitor her so closely.
Up to 5 lbs., 12 oz.
Thanks for praying.

Thank you so much for praying, and I hope you'll continue until Eden can get beyond the need to live at the hospital. Rebekah and Josh are looking forward to the time when they don't have to live at the hospital, either.

Eden had another apnea spell today, so she will not be released until Saturday at the earliest. It seems alarming that the baby basically stops breathing, and has to be stimulated somehow to start breathing again, but the medical people aren't alarmed about it and say that it is well within what is normal with premies like Eden. She just has to continue to grow and get stronger. Although she will be eight weeks old tomorrow, her original due date is still over two weeks away.
Thank you for your prayers, and thanks for continuing to visit this site even though the news has slowed down (blessedly).

Eden's surgery was successful. One of her fallopian tubes was trying to "knuckle through" the hernia on one side, so there were more problems ahead without the surgery. She woke up from being under anasthesia just fine.
Now it's the effect of the anasthesia and surgery on her apnea spells that we're watching out for. I think stacking up some days without any spells is the main thing that has to happen before Eden can come home.
Thanks for praying.
